Have you ever done something so stupid (you wonder where your head was at) it’s laughable? Or, have you been in a situation where you know something doesn’t seem right, you can’t figure it out, but know that ordinarily you would know what was wrong? Well, both situations happened to me the other day.
I had planned to go to a networking meeting for Marketing professionals in Oakville that started at 9:30. I was really excited about attending, as it was an opportunity for me to network with my peers. Not being familiar with Oakville, I diligently mapquested directions the night before on how to get to the designated location.
The following morning, as I’m driving to Oakville, something seemed amiss. I was a bit perplexed as to why the directions provided by Mapquest instructed me to head north on Hwy 410 towards Brampton. Now, ordinarily I would realize “wait a minute, I’m heading North instead of East”, but this time, I kept on driving. It wasn’t until I got to — you guessed correctly – ORANGEVILLE, that I realized “shit, not only did I mapquest the location incorrectly, but how dumb am I not to have realized that I was heading in the complete opposite direction and turned my car around as soon as I hit the 410″. DUH….
Given that it was only 9:15, I decided to still go to the event and was making my way towards Oakville, but then guess what happened? The light for my gas came on. I turned off at the nearest exit, filled the car up with gas and went —– on my way to the meeting.
